2026 Ins, Outs, and Business Goals
When people post their 2025 achievements and 2026 goals, it can be really hard not to fall into comparison.
I tend to fall into the trap of thinking things like:
Did I do enough?
Will I book enough clients this year?
What more could I have done last year?
How can I be better next year?
Am I a good enough editor?
Do my clients even like me?
Reflection is good, of course, but it can be difficult to not let it turn obsessive. I hope these questions don't plague you as well but, if they do, I really want you to know (and I'm saying these to myself too):
You did your best with what you had at the time โค๏ธ
All you can do is keep trying your best ๐งก
You are enough ๐
Sometimes there are seasons of your life when you have less energy, motivation, etc. and that doesn't mean you are giving up ๐
There is enough room for all of us in the bookish space ๐
You are loved and we are happy you're here ๐
All that to say, I approached my goals differently this year. I want to focus on healing my relationship with work and social media, as well as bring more joy to this dream job of mine.
I have more extensive/specific goals written down elsewhere, but these are the ones I wanted to share.
2026 Ins:
Genuine connections on & off social media
Whimsy & coziness
Drinking more water
Learning just to learn
Self-care & balance
Supporting local libraries
Cat pictures on socials
More diverse books
Art created by humans
2026 Outs:
Doomscrolling
Working through days off/vacations
Comparison
Generative AI
Pressure to post on socials every day
Not celebrating wins
Excessive self-criticism
Ignoring mental health
Distracting workspace clutter
2026 Business Goals:
New website, link page, & inquiry form
Write more in-depth blogs
Be more active in community groups
Read 200 books, focusing on indie and marginalized authors
Post more cat pics (I'm serious!)
Break down guilt cycles regarding work
Update pinned posts
Learn & post about more poetic devices
Post more poetry prompts
I also wanted to say thank you to all the wonderful clients and editors I've met since I began in 2024! I'm so grateful for your support, community, and connection ๐
What fun goals do you have for 2026? Let me know! My best one is probably "post more cat pictures"!
